About CheckedJobs

Looking for work in South Africa is hard enough without scams. Too many job sites are full of fake adverts that ask for fees, collect people's ID numbers, or lure them with pay that doesn't exist.

CheckedJobs is different. Every job is checked before it goes live, and applying is always free.

How we check jobs

• We look for the warning signs of scams: fees, requests for ID or bank details, WhatsApp-only applications, fake “mass hiring” posts and pay that's too good to be true.
• We check that contact details match the company, and that the apply link goes to the employer's own website.
• We compare adverts against scams we've seen before, and block repeat offenders.
• Adverts that aren't clearly fine are held for a person on our team to review.
• After publishing, job seekers can report adverts. Jobs reported by several people are hidden straight away.

We can't promise that no bad advert will ever get through, but we work hard to keep them out. See our safety tips.

Where our jobs come from

• Businesses that post with us. Every business is vetted before its jobs can go live.
• Employers' own careers websites, from large companies to start-ups.
• Government, including the weekly Public Service Vacancy Circular.

We don't copy adverts from other job boards. Closed adverts are removed automatically the day after their closing date.

Our job collector

We collect public job listings from employers' careers pages using a crawler that identifies itself as CheckedJobsBot. It obeys robots.txt and makes requests slowly. Employers who want their jobs removed or updated can contact us.
