Job description

Yuppiechef is looking for a detail-oriented and creative Junior Photographer to join our in-house Creative Team. You’ll help bring products to life through sharp, consistent, and inspiring imagery that elevates the online shopping experience. You’ll also gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of creative work — from still life shoots to campaign sets and short-form video — while building your craft in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Capturing sharp, colour-accurate, and on-brand product images at high volumes.
  • Retouching, editing and uploading supplier and in-house imagery to meet Yuppiechef standards.
  • Building independence in shooting efficiently and consistently.
  • Scanning, prepping, and returning all studio samples correctly, while assisting with the organisation of samples in collaboration with the Studio and Merchandising teams.
  • Supporting campaign shoots by assisting the Photography Lead with lighting, backdrops, props, studio equipment, and capturing behind-the-scenes content.
  • Maintaining production materials and ensuring the studio remains organised.
  • Resolving flagged image issues accurately and on deadline.
  • Creating and supporting web-related assets such as landing page content.
  • Sharpening your eye for detail and improving confidence in image corrections.
  • Following correct image naming, versioning, and storage practices.
  • Ensuring imagery is easily accessible to the wider creative team.
  • Assisting with short-form video content for social media platforms.

 Attributes we’re looking for:

  • Eager to take on increasing responsibility and grow in the role
  • Technically sharp, process-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Collaborative and open to feedback, with a growth mindset
  • Positive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about learning and improving your craft
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced studio environment and handling a variety of tasks

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in photography, design, or the arts, or equivalent practical experience

  • 1.5–2 years’ experience shooting and editing in a professional studio environment

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating technical skill and creative eye

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; familiarity with Capture One, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or CapCut is advantageous

  • Understanding of how ecommerce and marketing visuals impact the customer experience

Benefits:

  • A collaborative, inclusive work environment

  • Total Cost to Company (CTC) package, including Medical Aid allowance with Discovery, Life, Death & Disability cover, Retirement Annuity Allowance, Employee Assistance programme

  • Quarterly bonuses based on the company's performance after a year’s employment that scale with service

  • 17 days annual leave, increasing to 20 days with length of service

  • Half-day Fridays once a month

  • Flexi working arrangements depending on the role/responsibilities

  • Staff discount on all products from Yuppiechef and other Mr Price Group retail brands

Yuppiechef is a member of Mr Price Group Limited, an equal opportunity employer, and is committed to Employment Equity. By applying for this role, you agree with our terms and conditions.
