MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To function as a scrub practitioner and circulator under indirect supervision of a professional nurse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Deliver safe quality patient care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team

Ensure effective peri-operative preparation for an allocated Theatre list

Adhere to infection prevention and control principles in order to mitigate clinical risks

Ensure optimal utilisation of equipment and pharmaceutical stock to minimize financial risks

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Operating Theatre Practitioner Diploma

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Aseptic technique
  • Record keeping
  • Instrument management techniques
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols
  • Risk identification
